Hi, I’m Alex
About
At the height of a successful career in international high-tech marketing, I had led global marketing teams while living and working in Tel Aviv, London, and Geneva. I chose to follow my passion for painting and devote myself to art full-time.
This transition became a journey of self-discovery and personal expression. It has allowed me to explore the ideas and questions that matter to me.
Today, I paint contemporary figurative portraits of women, exploring femininity, presence, strength, and identity.
I am drawn to women who experience life in all its complexity, yet continue to move through the world with a strong sense of self. Their quiet strength and presence deserve to be seen and acknowledged. Their halos are not religious symbols but reflections of the secular holiness they possess.
I hope my paintings invite viewers to slow down, look a little longer, and see something familiar in a new way.
Artist Statement
Color, pattern, rhythm, and carefully constructed compositions are central to my visual language. They are not ends in themselves but tools through which I explore ideas of identity, individuality, belonging, freedom, and how we relate to the world around us. Through them, I create a sense of order and harmony while allowing movement, spontaneity, and unexpected combinations to emerge.
In my current body of work, I paint contemporary women whom I see as secular saints. Their halos are not religious symbols. They emerge from within the women I paint, reflecting the way I see them: worthy of attention, respect, and contemplation.
I am drawn to women who move through life with a quiet sense of self - women who carry their own stories, strengths, and vulnerabilities, while meeting the world on their own terms. Something in the way they inhabit themselves makes me want to stop and look.
Their gaze can suggest a story without revealing it, leaving room for the viewer’s own memories, emotions, and interpretations.
I want each woman to retain a sense of mystery - to be seen and felt without being fully explained.
Another significant body of my work is inspired by the traditional Dala horse, a small wooden horse rooted in Swedish folk tradition and associated with home, heritage, and belonging. In The Herd, dozens of familiar horses are individually reimagined. The work explores the tension between belonging and individuality, the desire to be part of something without losing what makes us individual.
Across my work, I return to the idea that something familiar can become extraordinary when we take the time to look at it truly. Painting allows me to slow that encounter down, to transform the familiar, and to create space for the viewer to discover a meaning of their own.
My work is currently presented at The Space Gallery in Jaffa, has been featured in group exhibitions, and is held in private collections.
